GENDERQUEER PRIDE

Genderqueer is most commonly used to describe a person who feels that his/her gender identity does not fit into the socially constructed "norms" associated with his/her biological sex.

The Genderqueer flag was designed by Marilyn Roxie; the original design was finalised in 2011 (originally created in 2010) with a small colour update in 2012.

Lavender represents androgyny - the colour is seen as a mix of blue (male) and pink (female).

It also stands for the 'Queer' in Genderqueer, as purple is commonly seen as a colour synonymous with homosexuality.

The white stripe represents agender.

Green represents those who see themselves as being outside the gender binary - neither male nor female.
