Since the 1990's the Leather Pride flag is a symbol used by the leather subculture.

It was designed by Tony DeBlasse in 1989, and quickly embraced by the gay leather community.

As for the meaning of the flag, DeBlasse’s says, 'I will leave it to the viewer to interpret the colours and symbols'.
